FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 14, 2020) — Marsy's Law for Kentucky released the following statements today regarding the passage of Senate Bill 15 by the House of Representatives, which once again places this impactful constitutional amendment on the ballot before the voters of the Commonwealth:

“I am grateful to the members of our House of Representatives who today took a bold stand to support tens of thousands of crime victims across the Commonwealth. This fall, Kentucky voters will again have an opportunity at the ballot box to guarantee vital constitutional protections to individuals and families who currently face an alarming imbalance in our justice system. I am confident that Kentuckians will overwhelmingly support Marsy’s Law once again—and that Kentucky crime victims will finally be granted the equal standing they deserve.” – Sen. Whitney Westerfield

“This is an exciting day for crime victims and advocates in all 120 counties across the Commonwealth. Following bipartisan passage by the House of Representatives, Marsy’s Law will now, once again, go before the voters of Kentucky. Thanks to the diligent efforts of legislators, along with victim advocates and community leaders statewide, Kentucky crime victims are closer to having a much-needed voice in our criminal justice system. The threat from the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has had on our lives is significant but as serious as it is, it does not eclipse the crucial need for equal rights for crime victims everywhere.  For them, we will work through the challenges these uncertain times have created and continue our mission on behalf of crime victims everywhere.” – Marsy’s Law for Kentucky
